What if cacao could do more than just delight the palate? What if it could also regenerate ecosystems, reconnect communities, and restore our relationship with the Earth?

That’s the question Tanya Romero of Finca Happy Fruit in Ecuador has been living—and answering—with every seed she plants and every story she shares. Tanya is not only an agroecologist and chocopreneur—she’s a movement builder rooted in soil, soul, and ancestral wisdom.

Tanya Romero is the second-generation steward of a thriving agroecological farm in Ecuador. As an Environmental and Sustainable Tourism Engineer, she has dedicated her life to transforming her family’s land into a model of sustainable development—one that honors ancestral knowledge while embracing innovation.

From the Ecuadorian dry forest, Tanya cultivates more than cacao. She cultivates freedom, joy, and healing through her regenerative farming practices and her commitment to honoring cacao as both food and medicine.

At Finca Happy Fruit, she blends ancestral knowledge with ecological science, creating a model of farming that nourishes people, planet, and profit—without compromising any of the three.

Her work centers on economic sovereignty, cultural reclamation, and joyful resistance. She believes that when farmers take back control of the value chain—from cultivation to chocolate making and other innovative powerful ways to share cacao that has attracted to her farm visitors from all around the world to life her transformational agritourism experiences and Cacao Holistic School. What they do in Happy Fruit is more than build better businesses—they create liberation.

Tanya has shared her vision and practices internationally, offering workshops and talks that explore the deeper potential of cacao as an alchemic craft and sacred medicine. Her teachings are grounded in lived experience, and her voice is a powerful reminder that sustainability is not just a trend—it’s a return.
